22-03-2015              FRIENDLY MATCH        CUMNOR  7  v   BOTLEY  0

Thanks to Botley for stepping in and giving the boys a game after Farringdon decided to bottle it and not play us.

A good competitive game against a decent Botley team, Cumnor came out of the first half on top with goals from a JAMIE header and DOMS determination and strength adding a second, HT 2-0.
A few position changes were made for the start of the second half including ADAM who came out of the goal and played upfront with MEHMET taking the keeper role, Cumnor started the second half well and CAM made it 3 with a lovely lob, he got his second 5 minutes later then ADAM ( yes ADAM )calmly slotted in the 5th with DOM then firing in from long range and HARRY also getting on the score sheet with another long range effort, the final score ended Cumnor 7 Botley 0.

A good run out for the boys who all acquitted themselves well, and looked solid at the back and always treat upfront, role on the Chalgrove game

MOM:- ADAM Mr Versatile

08-03-2015                        CROWMARSH COMETS  1  v  CUMNOR MINORS  4

After Cumnors win last week away to windy Chalgrove the boys were looking to carry on with winning ways with a difficult away fixture at Crowmarsh. With both RONAN, GEORGE D(both injured) and WILL missing from the starting line up the boys starting team had to step up to the plate and get out of the blocks quickly.

As requested Cumnor started the game quickly putting pressure on the Crowmarsh defence from the off, they continued their pressure for the next 15 minutes and it finally told when a positional change from the management instantly paid off when a flick on from JAMIE fell to COOKIE who turned the ball in the top corner of the net for a 1-0 lead, the Cumnor defence had to stay  focused as Crowmarsh were looking to be more positive and were pushing to get the equaliser, Cumnor were also looking to add to their tally before the halftime break but had to be content with just the one goal lead at halftime HT 0-1.
The second half again Cumnor started quickly and after three minutes of the half TOM hit the post from HARRYS pinpoint cross and JAMIE had a header brilliantly saved by the keeper, so it was of no surprise when again birthday boy COOKIE turned in another cross to make it 2-0 to the blues of Cumnor, two minutes later it was 3-0 when a shot from JAMIE from outside the area found its way into the net( dare I comment about shots on target!!!!)Cumnor were now in complete control of the game and were battling well all over the pitch and with DOM working hard upfront on his own he was finally rewarded for his persistence when muscling his way through the Crowmarsh defence and scoring Cumnors 4th, with only ten minutes left to play Cumnor were now just looking to see the game out BUT did concede to a long range goal and then one minute later ADAM made a terrific save and his near post to keep the scoreline at 4-1 to Cumnor.   FT 1-4. YES!!!

Considering we had two of our key players missing this was a terrific performance from all the lads they all worked tirelessly and deserved their well earn victory ( our last away league game of the season of which the record reads played 9 won 9 ) Fantastic.

Man of the Match:- Birthday Boy COOKIE for two very well taken goals and a great battling display in midfield
special mention, to SCOTT, CAM, JOHN and ADAM at the back and GEORGE M in midfield and finally to RONAN and GEORGE D both despite injuries came and supported their team mates.

01-03-2015                      CHALGROVE CHALLENGERS  0   v   CUMNOR MINORS  4

Cumnor travelled to a new destination for them a trip to Chalgrove a team who have had a decent season and were obviously going to give Cumnor a real game.

With a strong wind blowing across the pitch and yet again not the greatest playing surface Cumnor for a change started the game slowly and struggled to create any clear chances, in fact it was Chalgrove who should have taken the lead when their forward rounded ADAM but couldn't finish the opportunity, Cumnor then broke the deadlock (15 mins) when SCOTT played a ball over the top for DOM to control and slide in to the net and give Cumnor the lead and ease the early nerves, Cumnor were now looking more in control of the game and were putting more pressure on the Chalgrove goal, HARRY had a shot well saved and COOKIE had another chance cleared of the line but Cumnor couldn't add to their tally and with the wind actually so strong it was a relief when they had to go in to the halftime break with just the one goal lead. HT 0-1.
Cumnor started the second half much the better and doubled their lead after only 5 minutes when a shot come pass from GEORGE M fell to WILL who smashed the ball home from close range, from then on it was constant pressure from Cumnor with DOM hitting the post, GEORGE M having a shot well saved and HARRY having a header tipped round the post with TOM also coming close, but without adding to their tally Cumnor still had to concentrate at the back and try not concede and with the back line of JOHN,CAM ,SCOTT,JAMIE and ADAM all looking comfortable it was only a matter of time before Cumnor finished off the game and RONAN did just that when controlling the ball just outside the area and smashing a fantastic shot into the roof of the net, 3-0 up with only 7 minutes left  the game was finished off when WILL when he fired the ball into the top corner of the net from fully 25 yards out. FT 0-4.

After a bit of a shaky start for Cumnor the lads did well to pull the game around and battle against the wind and mud but in the end deserved their win and can go into next weeks game full of confidence.

Man of the Match :- JOHN for a solid display at the back.
special mention, to CAM and SCOTT who also had great displays in defence. and GEORGE M for a battling display in midfield
                                                     YES, IT WAS THIS WINDY!!!!!

15-02-2015                                 BOTLEY   0   v   CUMNOR MINORS   5

Cumnor were given the opportunity to go back to the top of the league if they could get a victory against  Botley, yet again playing on a non to friendly playing surface and having two players missing from the squad Cumnor couldn't take the win for granted.

Cumnor laid siege to the Botley goal from the start and had numerous shots at goal which either went wide or the goal keeper saved, Botley had the odd breakaway chance on goal but it was Cumnor who very much looked the side most likely to break the deadlock, it took 25 minutes for this to happen when RONAN and GEORGE played a nice one two before the ball was fed through to DOM to finish, HARRY then brought out yet another great save from the goalkeeper before RONAN curled in a great free kick to the top corner of the net,( his first goal for Cumnor )  to double the Cumnor lead, Cumnor still had more chances to add to their goal tally before halftime but had to be content with a two goal advantage at the break.
A couple of changes were made to the Cumnor line-up but they still started the second half much like the first BUT this time got the early break through when WILL coasted past a couple of players before smashing a shot into the corner of the net, Cumnor now 3 up were in cruise control and would have added more to their tally and if it wasn't for some inspired goalkeeping from the Botley keeper ,TOM did get Cumnors forth when turning in JAMIE shot and with a two minutes left GEORGE headed in HARRYS corner to give the scoreline a more realistic look. FT 0-5

All credit to Botley who battled hard considering they only had 10 players, but the boys put in a great display on a glue pot of a pitch and very much deserved their victory, which takes them back to the top of the league.

Man of the Match:- RONAN  For his great first goal for the team and a great all round performance

Special Mentions to HARRY for not only having a great game but keeping his cool throughout when being fouled (a lot) and making a difference not only to the team but to my blood pressure.(Mark)and for SCOTT for still turning up and supporting his fellow team mates.

08-02-15                                     CUMNOR MINORS  2  v  KIDLINGTON  1

Another home game and another toil in the mud for the Cumnor boys against a Kidlington team who have been riding high in the league all season, and again this was going to be a difficult game.

Kidlington started the brighter of the two teams and came close to opening the scoring when a free kick was superbly saved by ADAM when somehow tipping the ball onto the crossbar when it looked like the ball was sailing into the top corner of the net, the game swung from end to end without any real clear cut chances for either team, that was until Ronan swung a cross from the left which fell nicely for JAMIE to drill in the net for Cumnor to take the lead after 20 minutes of play, Cumnor were now having more of the play but couldn't add to their lead and when Kidlington had a trio of corners of which Cumnor failed to clear  Kidlington grabbed the equaliser just before half time whistle, HT 1-1.
With the game still very much in the balance the second half started very much like the first with both teams trying to play there way through the mud and get their second goal, Kidlington were then reduced to 10 men for a reckless challenge on WILL, with 25 minutes still left of the game Cumnor had now a real chance to make their extra player count and push on for the win!! trying to break down a resolute Kidlington defence was becoming harder and harder as the game went and as the clock ticked down the players were getting more and more frustrated until finally with 4 minutes left on the clock DOM weaved his way into the box and slotted the ball home for the winning goal.            FT 2-1 ..........phew!!!

A great victory for the boys in the end up against a decent Kidlington team who certainly deserved credit for their ability to keep going and give Cumnor a real test of patience, but for both teams not only the playing against each other and on a very difficult playing surface (this was not a dirty match,) BUT the ref had decided from the start of the game he was going to dish out more cards than Paul Daniels has up his sleeve, this was a such a shame as both sets of players just wanted to play football against each other fairly and competitively.

Man of the Match:- WILL for a really strong game in the midfield and causing the opposition so much trouble!!
Did you like my refereeing??? NO...... NOT ALOT!!!!!!

01-02-15            3rd round OX Cup                  CUMNOR MINORS  1  v  ABINGDON  3

Cumnor were back to cup action this week with a local derby against Abingdon, with Cumnor having a depleted team due to sickness and non to friendly playing surface to cope with this was going to be a very tough afternoon for the boys.

With changes to the normal starting line-up Cumnor were on the back foot from the start of the game but some great defending and battling in midfield and two tremendous saves from ADAM the score stayed goalless until 30 minutes when Abingdon broke the deadlock with a shot drilled in from the edge of the area, three minutes later it was 2-0 when the Abingdon forward slotted his shot in to the corner of the net from just inside the area,  but Cumnor didn't drop their heads and pulled a goal back just before halftime when pressure from HARRY and DOM ended with an Abingdon defender kicking the ball into his own net HT 1-2.
The second half didn't start well for Cumnor when they conceded a penalty after only two minutes, which was despatched with ease to make the score-line 3-1, the rest of the game was a battle for Cumnor with COOKIE having cramp, GEORGE M also suffering with cramp, CAM feeling ill, and MEHMET and many others(cream crackered)with only one sub Cumnor were making a lot of changes to the line up to try and give the injured boys time to recover, but the final whistle went and Cumnor were out of the cup, FT 1-3.

Considering 3 of are key players were missing today and others feeling unwell and others playing out of their normal positions the boys did really well to keep the score line down and stay in the game the whole match, well done to them all, roll on the league match next week against Kidlington where the boys I'm sure will be up to bounce back.

Man of the Match :- ADAM for some tremendous saves and very commanding performance in between the sticks.

Special Mention to all our parents who once again showed dignity and respect to all the players and officials throughout.

25-01-2015                                  CUMNOR MINORS  2  v  ST EDS  2

Cumnors first game at home for 7 weeks and their first league game for six since they played (st eds), with the pitch not exactly a putting green standard this was always going to be a battle.

The game started with both teams trying their best to play football but the pitch size and quality didn't help and both teams were closing down and not giving the forwards much of a look in, Cumnor were trying to create with both WILL and JAMIE running down both wings and looking dangerous but the chances were very few, that was until DOM unleashed a shot from the edge of the area which crashed against the underside of the bar and then fell nicely to WILL to finish off and give Cumnor the lead after 30 minutes, MEHMET (nursing a broken toe) then came on for GEORGE D who had done a good job at left back, Cumnor were suddenly looking in more control of the game and were looking to double their lead before halftime BUT it was St Eds who got the equaliser when from a corner the ball was cleared off the line only to hit a St Eds players on the chest a rebound in, HT 1-1.
This was going to be a tense and tight second half with Cumnor making a couple of subs the next goal was going to be crucial, the second half was very much like the first with no real clear cut chances and both teams battling there way through the mud to try and get the winning goal, GEORGE M working tirelessly in midfield to try and create chances and both CAM and SCOTT looking solid in the centre of the defence  it came at a slight surprise when St Eds took the lead a shot cleared of the line yet again was fired back in when ball fell kindly for a St Eds forward to slot home, with 15 minutes left of the game Cumnor had to keep their composure and stay patient and with 5 minutes left DOM played WILL in on the right hand side to fire the ball into the corner of the net for the deserved equaliser, JAMIE then came close to grabbing the winner and HARRY fired a long range free-kick just over, but the final whistle went and the honours were even, FT 2-2

A tough game for Cumnor our first league points of season dropped but the boys kept going the whole game in tough conditions and never gave up when they went behind so all credit to the boys for keeping their heads and getting what they deserved ( a point ),
with 4 subs trying to rotate the team keeping everyone happy and keep the team balanced and strong is not the easiest thing to do. so again credit to all involved and we move onto our next league match with even more determination.

Man of the Match:- SCOTT for a great defensive performance
special mentions for CAM and GEORGE M who also had great games

Ian and Mark try to work out a way of keeping everybody happy!!!!!

18-01-15               OX CUP 2ND RD           GROVE  0  v  CUMNORMINORS  6

Cumnors first game of the new year and their first for five weeks was an away game against Grove in the cup, a team who are currently residing in the B league, so this was going to be a test!!!!!

Cumnor started the game really brightly and were putting the Grove defence under constant pressure from the off, DOM hit the post and finally broke the deadlock after 20 minutes when slotting home from HARRYS cross, three minutes later it was 2-0 when DOM capitalised on a poor clearance to lobb the ball over the defence and goalkeeper from 25 yards out, with COOKIE,RONAN,HARRY and JAMIE dominating the midfield and the defence of GEORGE M,GEORGE D,CAM and SCOTT looking solid at the back Cumnor were looking in complete control of the game, TOM was giving the Grove defence problems with his constant chasing and DOM always a threat upfront, ADAM then made a good save to keep the score at 2-0 before MEHMET came on for JAMIE in the midfield and Cumnor then hit the woodwork (crossbar)yet again, the half time whistle went and Cumnor came off with the management team very happy with their display, HT 0-2.
JOHN and MATTHEW both came on at the start of the second half but nothing much changed and from a Grove corner DOM ran with the ball from well inside his own half to finish well for a really great individual goal his and Cumnors third of the game, DOM then fired in the fourth 2 minutes later from just inside the area and got his fifth when closing down a weak clearance from the defence, at 5-0 Cumnor were in total control of the game and added to the score line when TOM slotted home from a tight angle, with still 10 minutes left Cumnor were determined to see out the game without conceding and even had time to hit the woodwork again after HARRY was brought down by the on rushing keeper (A BIG GIRL!!!!) and smashed the resulting freekick against the crossbar.FT 0-6.

What a fantastic performance by all members of the team everybody played their part and put in tremendous amount of effort, considering we had not played a game for five weeks this was just what the management team had asked for and all bodes well for the forthcoming league fixtures................our reward for this great cup win a tie v Abingdon at home!!!!!!

Man of the Match :- Very hard not to give it to someone who scores five goals in a match and there were lots of potential candidates,BUT the decision went to RONAN for a all round powerhouse performance in midfield.
A GREAT ALL ROUND TEAM PERFORMANCE

14-12-14                                 ST EDMUNDS  1  v  CUMNOR MINORS  5

After several weeks of Cumnor having some terrific performances and cruising to some very convincing victories todays game against St Eds was going to be a real test not just physically but mentally as well!!

From the off again as they have done now since the start of the season Cumnor were very quickly out of the blocks and took an early lead when JAMIE turned and slotted past the keeper from just inside the box to give the boys the perfect start after only 4 minutes, Cumnor were keeping the pressure on and when GEORGE M fired home from fully 25/30 yards out into the top corner of the net they got what they deserved a two goal lead, three minutes later it was 3-0 when DOM stabbed home from close range after the St Eds defence failed to clear from RONAN'S corner, but St Eds found themselves back in the game when a ball over the top of the Cumnor defence was pounced on and slotted home, Cumnor had to keep up the pressure and their concentration with still 10 minutes left of the half they did just that when DOM putting pressure on the defence the ball broke for HARRY who calmly lobbed the keeper for a 4-1 lead and Cumnor ended a perfect half when MEHMET shot/cross from 30 yards out found its way into net HT 1-5.
In the second half Cumnor needed to keep their composure and approach the half exactly like they had the first, with WILL coming on for COOKIE who had battled well in the first half and TOM going upfront with DOM Cumnor were looking to build on their lead and came close when DOM fired wide and TOM hit the crossbar in-between JAMIE had been felled in the box and HARRY kicked the resulting penalty kick into the kids playground!!(unlucky son), with WILL causing the Et Eds defence problems down the right hand side and RONAN keeping St Eds star player quite in the midfield Cumnor were also looking comfortable at the back with ADAM CAM,SCOTT,GEORGE M ,JOHN and MEHMET keeping all St Eds attacks at bay, with MATTHEW coming on for a late cameo appearance Cumnor saw the time out and had won a very important game.(yes!!!) FT 1-5.

A truly great performance by the all the team, keeping their heads and letting their feet do the talking was the perfect way to win the match, a very much deserved victory A VERY BIG WELL DONE TO ALL THE BOYS.

Man of the Match:- MEHMET for a great goal and strong defensive display
 5-1...........get in there!!!!!

07-12-2014                         CUMNOR MINORS  10  v  BLEWBURY  BUCCANEERS  0

Cumnor were looking to continue their great form this season with a home game against struggling Blewbury Buccaneers.

Cumnor yet again got off to a flying start when a great team build up ended with JAMIE firing the ball in the net with only two minutes on the clock, Cumnor laid siege on the Blewbury goal but it wasn't until 20 minutes into the game that DOM (hit the target!!)when his powerful shot found the back of the net, from the re-start DOM then made it 3-0 and two minutes later completed his hatrick when heading home from HARRY'S cross, Cumnor made a couple of swift changes to the line-up and ADAM then had to make a couple of smart saves to keep the halftime score at 4-0.
Cumnor got off to another quick start in the second half when a nice one two between CAM and GEORGE M was finished off nicely by CAM, JAMIE was then tripped in the box and HARRY despatch the resulting penalty, five minutes later JOHN got his first goal of the season (and first of his Cumnor career) when turning in a corner from HARRY, TOM also got on the score sheet when capitalising on a mistake in the Blewbury defence, HARRY then turned in a great cross from CAM and with one minute left CAM headed home his second and Cumnors 10th and the fulltime score finishing 10-0.

Another great all round team performance from the boys, special mentions to all players for their great attitude towards this game and team spirit throughout the whole match, well done to COOKIE,MEHMET,JOHN,SCOTT,DOM and ADAM for keeping yet another clean sheet our forth of the season, well done boys bring on ST EDS next week!

Man of the Match:- CAM for a all round great performance.

30-12-2014                   OX CUP 1ST RD         CUMNOR MINORS 7  v  FARINGDON  2

With the absence of 1 or 2 players and 1or 2 injury worries Cumnor went into the cup game confident but a little bit apprehensive!

The game started very well for Cumnor when a free-kick swung in by HARRY was turned in by CAM for one nil, the next 20 minutes Cumnor were looking a bit disjointed and were struggling to play any football on the long grass and muddy pitch but finally got their second goal when a great run from JAMIE was tap in by CAM coming in at the far post, three minutes later CAM had his hatrick when he finished calmly past the keeper after getting on the end of great through ball from RONAN, Cumnor then scored another soon after when MATTHEW fired the ball in to the top corner of the net for his first goal of the season (his first for Cumnor)and suddenly Cumnor were in cruise control and just before halftime MATTHEW shot went in off the post to make it 5-0 at HT.
In the second half ADAM came in at right defence and JAMIE dropped into the goalkeeping role, COOKIE came on and a couple of changes to the line up were made!!HARRY then made it 6 nil when finishing off a lovely ball from RONAN and everything was looking great..... BUT when chasing back with a Faringdon player there was a coming together! PENALTY to Faringdon!!! which was dispatched and SCOTT apparently had to walk!!!!!!(very very harsh).
With only 10 players on the pitch and still 25 minutes left to play Cumnor were content to see time out but unfortunately conceded again, DOM then came on for the final 15 minutes and scored when a he finished off after nice through ball from TOM. FT 7-2.

Not Cumnors prettiest performance but a win is a win and a game against Grove (away) in the next round as their reward, and gives the boys more confidence to carry on with their very impressive league form next weekend..........bring on the Blewbury

Man of the Match:- MATTHEW for two well taken goals and all round performance.

16-11-14                                         CUMNOR MINORS  7  v  BOTLEY BOYS  0

Playing only their second home game of the season Cumnor were up against a Botley side who have blown hot and cold since the start of the season and could prove a bit tricky, staying focused and concentrating from start was going to be a must!

Cumnor started the game strongly with Botley playing with a strong back four this was obvious from the start that Cumnor were going to have to be patient, 18 minutes later JAMIE fired in from just inside the area to brake the deadlock and calm the Cumnor nerves, two minutes later it was two when DOM slotted home and three minutes later after some good team work DOM headed in to make it 3-0, Cumnor were now in total control of the game and rounded off a great first half display with GEORGE M smashing the ball into the roof of the net( his first of the season, will he score a better one??)HT 4-0.
In the second half the subs were used(TOM making his welcome comeback after injury and hols........bit disappointed that he didn't wear his mickey mouse ears!!!maybe next week!!)   BUT Cumnor still started well when HARRYS shot/cross flew into the corner of the net after only three minutes of the restart, Cumnor were in control of the game and DOM got his hatrick and Cumnors 6th when he fired home on the half volley, lots of subs and changes were made during the last 20 minutes of the game but that didn't stop Cumnor adding to their tally when a great through ball from RONAN was finished off by CAM when he neatly lobbed the keeper for Cumnors 7th, with the  game safely won we were even treated to some trickery from MATTHEW on the right wing(confidence is everything and is great to see....well done MATTY) FT 7-0.

Another great performance from the boys NOT are best but solid and keeps our very impressive start to the season going WELL DONE TO ALL

Man of the Match:- RONAN for yet another powerhouse performance in midfield.

Also a big thank you to all the parents that helped with various tasks during and after the game.
LETS KEEP IT GOING BOYS .........THIS CURRENTLY COULD BE US!!

Cumnor v Kidlington pix

09-11-14                                     KIDLINGTON   0  v   CUMNOR MINORS  11

After a three week break Cumnor were hoping to keep their successful start to the season going with  another trip to the unknown away at Kidlington.

Having thought Cumnor would only have 11 players available it was a bonus when both Mehmet and Will turned up to play.
Cumnor started with a positive line -up and were totally dominating the early period of the half and took the lead when a corner from HARRY was turned in to net by a Kidlington player, five minutes later it was two when HARRY curled a 30 yard free-kick into the top corner of the net, Cumnor continued pushing forward and hit the woodwork twice, it was DOM who then made it three when finishing calmly past the keeper after a great through ball from RONAN and then it was four when HARRY went through and rounded the keeper to finish with ease, DOM then headed in to make it five and although Kidlington were still trying hard to break the Cumnor defence down it was looking solid with CAM,JOHN,GEORGE M and MEHMET all looking to play some balls through to the forwards this resulting in the next goal when MEHMET played in HARRY for his hatrick and Cumnors sixth ......HT 0-6.
Cumnor made a couple of changes for the start of the second half but continued their onslaught when HARRY hammered in the 7th after just one minute of the half, DOM had his hatrick when turning in a RONAN corner, it was then 9 when a great team build up was finished off by HARRY, the management then decided to swap things around a bit.....BUT that didn't stop Cumnor still trying to add to their tally and DOMS long shot from 35 yards somehow found the back of the net!!with 5 minutes left WILL weaved his way into the box and finished superbly in the corner of the net..FT 0-11.

What a terrific result the boys kept going throughout and the confidence in the whole squad of players is evident to see, lets keep it going..... WELL DONE BOYS.

Man of the Match:- HARRY with 5 well taken goals

Special Mentions to JAMIE who had a terrific game and RONAN who worked tirelessly in the midfield and ADAM for keeping a clean sheet and his concentration.

19-10-2014                             ABINGDON UTD  3  v  CUMNOR MINORS  4

This was always going to be a tough game and a real test of character for the boys!!

The game started with Cumnor having the better of the early exchanges and going close on a couple of times, but it was Abingdon who took the lead when a corner was headed powerfully in the net, two minutes later and when Cumnor failed to clear the ball from the box Abingdon had doubled their lead, (after 20 minutes lots of teams would have dropped their heads and started giving up BUT NOT CUMNOR) the whole team kept battling away and were finally rewarded when DOM finished off a nice through ball from JAMIE 2-1(25mins) the game was very end to end and a great contest and it was Cumnor who got the equaliser just before halftime when DOM twisted and turned inside the area and then coolly with the outside of his foot curled the ball inside the far post 2-2 GAME ON! HT.

The second half started with GEORGE M having to slot into the right back position due to SCOTT who'd had a great first half coming off the with an injury and JAMIE going to the left back position, Cumnor again started the half well and were looking to take control of the game the defence were looking comfortable with CAM, JOHN,JAMIE, GEORGE M and GEORGE D playing really well and making some great tackles and clearing the ball effectively, Cumnor then took the lead when HARRY'S corner was headed home by DOM for his and Cumnors third, with still 20 minutes left to play Cumnor were going to have to show not only character but real strength....RONAN was having a great match in the middle of the park and COOKIE was doing his normal battling job, MATTHEW came on and chased up and down the right wing effectively and ADAM's distribution from the area was becoming more and more effective, and then HARRY smashed a free-kick off the bar and DOM hit the post with the follow up, Cumnor were looking to build on their lead  and when DOM turned and shot from fully 20 yards out it looked like job done BUT again the ball hit the post and again was cleared, Abingdon then won a free-kick on the left hand side of the box, the ball was swung in to the area but cleared by the Cumnor defence only to be put back in and then turned in!!! the linesman flagged for offside but apparently Cumnor had a invisible player stood on the line!!!!!!!!!!(it's the refs finalcall)3-3, with 5 minutes left Cumnor were still looking to win the game and when a foul on HARRY was committed MEHMET swung in the resulting free-kick and DOM turned the ball in for the winner (78 mins)  for much celebrations both on and off the pitch to start. FT 3-4.

What can I say about the display of all the boys today a fantastic all round performance from everybody, all parents and the Cumnor management  should be (and are)very proud of the boys.

Man of the Match:- DOM Four great goals and for causing so much trouble for the Abingdon defence

n.b After being coach/manager of this great little team for 8 seasons I can proudly say that was our best ever result/ performance A VERY BIG WELL DONE TO EVERYONE INVOLDED.(Mark)

12-10-14               B&B CUP      ST EDS  1  v  CUMNOR MINORS  0

After yet another no show from the ref!! Ian kindly stepped in to take charge of this B&B cup game.

In a tight first half both teams had chances to take the lead with St Eds hitting the crossbar and Cumnor keeping the St Eds goalkeeper busy, with both teams making claims for penalties the score remained 0-0 at the half time break.
In the second half the game remained a tight affair with Cumnor having the lions share of the possession and with both DOM and MATT having half chances to score......BUT it was St Eds who broke the deadlock with a through ball that caught the Cumnor defence of their guard and was finished off by rounding the keeper and slotting the ball home, Cumnor kept pushing forward with WILL trying to create more chances for the forwards and JAMIE putting in some great crosses from the left side,BUT the final whistle went (what whistle!!!!!)and Cumnor had lost their first game of the season, FT 1-0.

The boys should take heart from this game they had most of the play and chances so can go into the league game against St Eds with real confidence and look to bounce back next weekend.

No Man of the match awarded but special mention to WILL,GEORGE M and RONAN
