22-09-13 CUMNOR MINORS 4 v CROWMARSH COMETS 5
The second game of the season and the first home match, with players struggling with sickness and one another being SHOT AT!! starting only with eleven players and no subs against a strong Crowmarsh team the team would have to dig very deep to get a positive result!!!
Crowmarsh started much the stronger with Cumnor finding it hard to get out of their own half,and it came as no surprise when they took the lead after 6 minutes, Cumnor started to come more into the game with both HARRY and GEORGE M battling away in the midfield and both DOM and GUY trying their best to keep it tight at the back they were definitely still in the game, unfortunately Crowmarsh scored their second via a deflection from a free-kick, they quickly made it 3 when a lovely through ball from the REF!!!put the Crowmarsh forward through on goal and slipped it past an advancing ADAM,CAM then pulled a goal back for Cumnor when getting onto a through ball from HARRY to smash the ball into the corner of the net, in the very last minute of the half Cumnor conceded a needless corner and paid the price when the defence stood still and admired the cross and watch as the ball flew into the net of a Crowmarsh head HT 1-4.
With a couple position changes in the second half JOHN having another good game slipping in to the central defence Cumnor were going to go for it, DOM smashed a free-kick against the post and with COOKIE battling away in midfield Cumnor looked very much the team to get the next goal,it came when CAM hit another great shot from just inside the area in to the top corner of the net 2-4.......Cumnor really had the bit between teeth and kept surging forward looking for more goals,BUT were unfortunately caught out at the back when Crowmarsh went 5-2 up,CUMNOR never gave up DOM hit the post again when the GK pushed his shot against the post,WILSON shot just wide and with MEHMET pushing up from back and MATTHEW looking dangerous up front Cumnor definitely deserved their third when CAM hit another great shot from outside the area and into the net for his hatrick after racing on to a long throw from DOM,with 3 minutes left Harry pulled another goal back when cutting in from the left to slot home, 4-5!!Cumnor then threw everything at Crowmarsh but just couldn't get the equaliser and time ran out.......FT 4-5.
THE BOYS GAVE 100% AND SHOULD BE PROUD OF HOW THE NEVER GAVE UP.WELL DONE TO ALL.
