13-10-13                              CUMNOR MINORS  6  v  ST EDMUNDS  2

After 3 defeats in the first 3 games Cumnor desperately needed a win on the board to get their season off and running, unfortunately with 2 key players missing from the squad  (Jamie and Dom) this week they were in for a tricky match!!!

Cumnor started the game well with most off the play being in the St Eds half of the pitch for the first 10 minutes, but they couldn't get the breakthrough and St Eds came more and more into the game but with CAM stopping everything and everyone coming at him at the back it was Cumnor who came very close to opening the scoring when HARRY lobbed the goalie from an acute angle only for the ball to cannon off the crossbar and clear, it was St Eds who then got the first goal of the game when a corner was headed in by the centre half on 25 mins, but just before half time Cumnor got the equaliser when GEORGE M put a cross in for HARRY to get to the ball first and head past the goalkeeper......1-1 HT.
In the second half Cumnor made some tactical changes to the line up with GEORGE D pushing into midfield and MATTHEW coming on upfront, and again they started the half very brightly with COOKIE,MEHMET,JOHN and CAM at the back looking solid at the back it came as a surprise when St Eds took a 2-1 lead,TOM then making his debut for the team ran through on goal and calmly equalised on 45 mins,10 minutes later he then got his second and Cumnors third when finishing well when one on one with the keeper, Cumnor then took control of the game and goals from GEORGE M(62),WILSON(66)his first for the club and HARRY(68) finished the game off well FT 6-2.
A great win for boys, although the scoreline did flatter them a bit but the first win of the season comes with open arms and with the TAYLOR twins back next week the season starts now and more positive results on the horizon.
Man of the Match:- MEHMET for a great second half performance at left back.
Special Mention:- CAM for a terrific performance at the back a (real team player).
