01-12-13 HINKSEY PARK 6 v CUMNOR MINORS 3
After a gritty draw last weekend in a game Cumnor felt they could and probably should have won, today they were up against a team with a 100% record and a very good side.....BUT playing positively and keeping their heads up, you never know ....football is a funny old game!!
Cumnor started the game with a 4-1-4-1 formation and started very brightly seeing a lot of the ball and nearly got the first goal when a shot from COOKIE was blocked and HARRY then clipped the bar with the follow up, the Cumnor defence were keeping Hinksey at bay and very much restricting them upfront and then scored the first goal when a corner from JAMIE was headed home by DOM, five minutes later JAMIE fired in a great shot from the edge area and Cumnor were two up,things got even better when from a corner COOKIE hit a volley into the net.....3-0 with 23 minutes on the clock (who's the top team here???),Cumnor did have a couple more chances to increase their lead and the midfield of TOM,HARRY,COOKIE, JAMIE and GUY were giving everything and fighting for every ball, but it was Hinksey who grab a goal back just before half time and we went in at halftime 3-1 up.
Cumnor made no changes to personnel in the second half and again were keeping Hinksey restricted to only half chances, BUT after a couple of changes to the team Cumnor lost two quick goals and were suddenly were hanging on and looking venerable and were caught again and AGAIN when letting sloppy goals in found themselves 5-3 down with 10 minutes to go, still Cumnor looked to get themselves back into the game and CAM squeezed a shot in from a tight angle but the ball bounce off the post and was cleared away(sums up the season so far) because 30seconds later Hinksey made it six.....and the game was over!!FT 6-3.
What can I say,..... A game of two halves!!!that is an understatement with the boys playing absolutely brilliantly in the first half and looked by far the better of the two teams, and really didn't deserve the final score line BUT must keep their heads up and be positive throughout the whole game, there are lessons to be learnt for them/us all...............Football sometimes not that funny,is it!!!!!!!
