18-01-15               OX CUP 2ND RD           GROVE  0  v  CUMNORMINORS  6

Cumnors first game of the new year and their first for five weeks was an away game against Grove in the cup, a team who are currently residing in the B league, so this was going to be a test!!!!!

Cumnor started the game really brightly and were putting the Grove defence under constant pressure from the off, DOM hit the post and finally broke the deadlock after 20 minutes when slotting home from HARRYS cross, three minutes later it was 2-0 when DOM capitalised on a poor clearance to lobb the ball over the defence and goalkeeper from 25 yards out, with COOKIE,RONAN,HARRY and JAMIE dominating the midfield and the defence of GEORGE M,GEORGE D,CAM and SCOTT looking solid at the back Cumnor were looking in complete control of the game, TOM was giving the Grove defence problems with his constant chasing and DOM always a threat upfront, ADAM then made a good save to keep the score at 2-0 before MEHMET came on for JAMIE in the midfield and Cumnor then hit the woodwork (crossbar)yet again, the half time whistle went and Cumnor came off with the management team very happy with their display, HT 0-2.
JOHN and MATTHEW both came on at the start of the second half but nothing much changed and from a Grove corner DOM ran with the ball from well inside his own half to finish well for a really great individual goal his and Cumnors third of the game, DOM then fired in the fourth 2 minutes later from just inside the area and got his fifth when closing down a weak clearance from the defence, at 5-0 Cumnor were in total control of the game and added to the score line when TOM slotted home from a tight angle, with still 10 minutes left Cumnor were determined to see out the game without conceding and even had time to hit the woodwork again after HARRY was brought down by the on rushing keeper (A BIG GIRL!!!!) and smashed the resulting freekick against the crossbar.FT 0-6.

What a fantastic performance by all members of the team everybody played their part and put in tremendous amount of effort, considering we had not played a game for five weeks this was just what the management team had asked for and all bodes well for the forthcoming league fixtures................our reward for this great cup win a tie v Abingdon at home!!!!!!

Man of the Match :- Very hard not to give it to someone who scores five goals in a match and there were lots of potential candidates,BUT the decision went to RONAN for a all round powerhouse performance in midfield.
A GREAT ALL ROUND TEAM PERFORMANCE
