25-01-2015                                  CUMNOR MINORS  2  v  ST EDS  2

Cumnors first game at home for 7 weeks and their first league game for six since they played (st eds), with the pitch not exactly a putting green standard this was always going to be a battle.

The game started with both teams trying their best to play football but the pitch size and quality didn't help and both teams were closing down and not giving the forwards much of a look in, Cumnor were trying to create with both WILL and JAMIE running down both wings and looking dangerous but the chances were very few, that was until DOM unleashed a shot from the edge of the area which crashed against the underside of the bar and then fell nicely to WILL to finish off and give Cumnor the lead after 30 minutes, MEHMET (nursing a broken toe) then came on for GEORGE D who had done a good job at left back, Cumnor were suddenly looking in more control of the game and were looking to double their lead before halftime BUT it was St Eds who got the equaliser when from a corner the ball was cleared off the line only to hit a St Eds players on the chest a rebound in, HT 1-1.
This was going to be a tense and tight second half with Cumnor making a couple of subs the next goal was going to be crucial, the second half was very much like the first with no real clear cut chances and both teams battling there way through the mud to try and get the winning goal, GEORGE M working tirelessly in midfield to try and create chances and both CAM and SCOTT looking solid in the centre of the defence  it came at a slight surprise when St Eds took the lead a shot cleared of the line yet again was fired back in when ball fell kindly for a St Eds forward to slot home, with 15 minutes left of the game Cumnor had to keep their composure and stay patient and with 5 minutes left DOM played WILL in on the right hand side to fire the ball into the corner of the net for the deserved equaliser, JAMIE then came close to grabbing the winner and HARRY fired a long range free-kick just over, but the final whistle went and the honours were even, FT 2-2

A tough game for Cumnor our first league points of season dropped but the boys kept going the whole game in tough conditions and never gave up when they went behind so all credit to the boys for keeping their heads and getting what they deserved ( a point ),
with 4 subs trying to rotate the team keeping everyone happy and keep the team balanced and strong is not the easiest thing to do. so again credit to all involved and we move onto our next league match with even more determination.

Man of the Match:- SCOTT for a great defensive performance
special mentions for CAM and GEORGE M who also had great games

Ian and Mark try to work out a way of keeping everybody happy!!!!!
