01-02-15            3rd round OX Cup                  CUMNOR MINORS  1  v  ABINGDON  3

Cumnor were back to cup action this week with a local derby against Abingdon, with Cumnor having a depleted team due to sickness and non to friendly playing surface to cope with this was going to be a very tough afternoon for the boys.

With changes to the normal starting line-up Cumnor were on the back foot from the start of the game but some great defending and battling in midfield and two tremendous saves from ADAM the score stayed goalless until 30 minutes when Abingdon broke the deadlock with a shot drilled in from the edge of the area, three minutes later it was 2-0 when the Abingdon forward slotted his shot in to the corner of the net from just inside the area,  but Cumnor didn't drop their heads and pulled a goal back just before halftime when pressure from HARRY and DOM ended with an Abingdon defender kicking the ball into his own net HT 1-2.
The second half didn't start well for Cumnor when they conceded a penalty after only two minutes, which was despatched with ease to make the score-line 3-1, the rest of the game was a battle for Cumnor with COOKIE having cramp, GEORGE M also suffering with cramp, CAM feeling ill, and MEHMET and many others(cream crackered)with only one sub Cumnor were making a lot of changes to the line up to try and give the injured boys time to recover, but the final whistle went and Cumnor were out of the cup, FT 1-3.

Considering 3 of are key players were missing today and others feeling unwell and others playing out of their normal positions the boys did really well to keep the score line down and stay in the game the whole match, well done to them all, roll on the league match next week against Kidlington where the boys I'm sure will be up to bounce back.

Man of the Match :- ADAM for some tremendous saves and very commanding performance in between the sticks.

Special Mention to all our parents who once again showed dignity and respect to all the players and officials throughout.
