01-03-2015                      CHALGROVE CHALLENGERS  0   v   CUMNOR MINORS  4

Cumnor travelled to a new destination for them a trip to Chalgrove a team who have had a decent season and were obviously going to give Cumnor a real game.

With a strong wind blowing across the pitch and yet again not the greatest playing surface Cumnor for a change started the game slowly and struggled to create any clear chances, in fact it was Chalgrove who should have taken the lead when their forward rounded ADAM but couldn't finish the opportunity, Cumnor then broke the deadlock (15 mins) when SCOTT played a ball over the top for DOM to control and slide in to the net and give Cumnor the lead and ease the early nerves, Cumnor were now looking more in control of the game and were putting more pressure on the Chalgrove goal, HARRY had a shot well saved and COOKIE had another chance cleared of the line but Cumnor couldn't add to their tally and with the wind actually so strong it was a relief when they had to go in to the halftime break with just the one goal lead. HT 0-1.
Cumnor started the second half much the better and doubled their lead after only 5 minutes when a shot come pass from GEORGE M fell to WILL who smashed the ball home from close range, from then on it was constant pressure from Cumnor with DOM hitting the post, GEORGE M having a shot well saved and HARRY having a header tipped round the post with TOM also coming close, but without adding to their tally Cumnor still had to concentrate at the back and try not concede and with the back line of JOHN,CAM ,SCOTT,JAMIE and ADAM all looking comfortable it was only a matter of time before Cumnor finished off the game and RONAN did just that when controlling the ball just outside the area and smashing a fantastic shot into the roof of the net, 3-0 up with only 7 minutes left  the game was finished off when WILL when he fired the ball into the top corner of the net from fully 25 yards out. FT 0-4.

After a bit of a shaky start for Cumnor the lads did well to pull the game around and battle against the wind and mud but in the end deserved their win and can go into next weeks game full of confidence.

Man of the Match :- JOHN for a solid display at the back.
special mention, to CAM and SCOTT who also had great displays in defence. and GEORGE M for a battling display in midfield
