08-03-2015                        CROWMARSH COMETS  1  v  CUMNOR MINORS  4

After Cumnors win last week away to windy Chalgrove the boys were looking to carry on with winning ways with a difficult away fixture at Crowmarsh. With both RONAN, GEORGE D(both injured) and WILL missing from the starting line up the boys starting team had to step up to the plate and get out of the blocks quickly.

As requested Cumnor started the game quickly putting pressure on the Crowmarsh defence from the off, they continued their pressure for the next 15 minutes and it finally told when a positional change from the management instantly paid off when a flick on from JAMIE fell to COOKIE who turned the ball in the top corner of the net for a 1-0 lead, the Cumnor defence had to stay  focused as Crowmarsh were looking to be more positive and were pushing to get the equaliser, Cumnor were also looking to add to their tally before the halftime break but had to be content with just the one goal lead at halftime HT 0-1.
The second half again Cumnor started quickly and after three minutes of the half TOM hit the post from HARRYS pinpoint cross and JAMIE had a header brilliantly saved by the keeper, so it was of no surprise when again birthday boy COOKIE turned in another cross to make it 2-0 to the blues of Cumnor, two minutes later it was 3-0 when a shot from JAMIE from outside the area found its way into the net( dare I comment about shots on target!!!!)Cumnor were now in complete control of the game and were battling well all over the pitch and with DOM working hard upfront on his own he was finally rewarded for his persistence when muscling his way through the Crowmarsh defence and scoring Cumnors 4th, with only ten minutes left to play Cumnor were now just looking to see the game out BUT did concede to a long range goal and then one minute later ADAM made a terrific save and his near post to keep the scoreline at 4-1 to Cumnor.   FT 1-4. YES!!!

Considering we had two of our key players missing this was a terrific performance from all the lads they all worked tirelessly and deserved their well earn victory ( our last away league game of the season of which the record reads played 9 won 9 ) Fantastic.

Man of the Match:- Birthday Boy COOKIE for two very well taken goals and a great battling display in midfield
special mention, to SCOTT, CAM, JOHN and ADAM at the back and GEORGE M in midfield and finally to RONAN and GEORGE D both despite injuries came and supported their team mates.
